WHICH MODEL WOULD BE BEST FOR MY NEEDS?
Evaluate how you plan to use your boat - fishing on a lake, as a tender for a bigger boat. tucked away in an RV just in case... Are you planning to use a motor? What size do you feel like handling? How many people will you be conveying on an average trip?
Each of our four models is distinctive.
- ln our Delphin Classic line, most models come with their own storage bag, and boats can carry from 2 to 5 passengers, depending on boat size. Carefully hand-assembled, these small boats are great for grab-and·go or as a classic dinghy.
- The Rugged Series is the workboat version of the Delphin. These boats are designed especially for beaching on inhospitable shores.
- Advanced Cat (Catamaran Tunnel Hull) boats are extremely stable, high performance inflatable boats that serve welt either as a primary boat or as a high·quality tender. They can seat from 3 to 8 people (depending on boat size). These boats are great for diving, fishing, as tenders, or just to enjoy a day on the water.
- Sport Cat boats are for people looking to do "sports car" boating. With it's open transom and great handling, the Sport Cat is a fun, sometimes wet experience. This boat is NOT recommended for the inexperienced boater.
HOW DO I KNOW WHAT SIZE BOAT WILL WORK BEST FOR ME?
Determine the number of people you will most often be carrying, and where (or if) you will be storing the boat during the year. All of our boats deflate and roll up, but of course the big boats take a large space (see below). Boats can also be stored inflated (on a deck or a trailer}, but we recommend a UV and physically protective cover.
Delphin Classic 3.5' X 2' X l' , 73 lbs smallest to 4" X 2.‘l‘ X ‘l.25', 172 lbs largest
Rugged Series 4' 2.2' X 1.3', 148 lbs smallest to 5.5' X 3' X 1.52, 320 lbs largest
Advanced Cat 4.6' X 2.7' X 1.3', 136 lbs smallest to 4.8' X 3‘ 2', 260 lbs largest
Sport Cat 5.3' X 2.6' X 2.5', 170 lbs smallest to 5.6' X 3.2' X 2.5', 210 lbs largest
WHAT KIND OF MOTORS DO AMI BOATS TAKE?
Motor parameters can be found in the tables, but all Delphin Classics and Sport Cats are short shaft, Advanced Cats and Rugged boats use short shaft for their smaller sizes and long shaft for the two largest.
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY AMI BOAT?
Keep it clean. dry. and protected when not in use. Keep it clean when in the water; pull it and clean the bottom when it needs it. WE DO NOT recommend the use of Aerospace 303 in high UV climates. Use an equivalent UV protectant rated for the use on PVC - found at stores like West Marine. If folding your boat to store for a long time, use marine talc (talcum powder). This can be found at most chandleries.
WHAT ARE AMI BOATS MADE OUT OF?
Delphin Classics, Rugged Series, Advanced Cat and Sport Cats are made from PVC. They are hand-assembled and hand-glued with triple-lapped seams.
CAN I PULL IT UP ON A ROUGH BEACH?
Rugged Series boats were born for rough beaches, but Advanced Cats and Sport Cats do very well, also. The Advance Catamaran Tunnel Hull boats ride only on two rails; less fabric has to be pulled along so beaching is slightly easier.
CAN I USE DAVITS?
Yes. All of our boats now come with lifting rings in front and U-bolts on the transom. You can see examples of Cat Boats on davits on the Advanced Cat page.
WHERE ARE THE SMALL BOATS MADE?
We have our boats produced in Qingdao, China from components chosen from vendors worldwide, and distributed out of Everett, WA.
WHAT IS THE WARRANTY?
We offer a five-year air-holding warranty with one year for mechanical parts.
